When I didn’t start running

When I first started running, it seemed like a daunting task. I had always been an active person, but running was never something that I enjoyed or even thought about pursuing. However, one day, a friend convinced me to try it out, and I reluctantly agreed.

I remember my first run vividly. It was a beautiful morning, and I laced up my old sneakers and hit the pavement. Within moments, I was gasping for air and my legs felt like lead. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. But despite the struggle, there was something exhilarating about pushing my body to its limits and feeling the burn of a good workout.

Despite this initial experience, I still didn’t fully commit to running. I would go on the occasional jog here and there, but it never became a consistent part of my routine. It wasn’t until a few months later that I finally decided to give it another shot.

One day, after a particularly stressful day at work, I laced up my sneakers and hit the trails. As I ran, I felt all my worries and anxieties melt away. Running became my therapy, my escape from the chaos of everyday life. It was my time to be alone with my thoughts, to push myself, and to just be present in the moment.

From that day on, I was hooked. I started running regularly, gradually increasing my distance and speed. I signed up for races, joined running clubs, and even convinced some friends to join me on my runs. Running was no longer just a form of exercise, it was a passion, a lifestyle.

Looking back, I can’t believe how hesitant I was to start running. It has brought me so much joy, strength, and confidence. It has taught me that I am capable of so much more than I ever imagined. So if you’re hesitant to start running, I encourage you to give it a try. You never know what you might discover about yourself along the way. Who knows, you might just fall in love with it like I did.
